The client seeks an energetic, proactive Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the Development Department and serve as a core driver of fundraising strategy and execution. The CDO will support the organization’s mission focused on reproductive justice and young people, centering the leadership of people ages 18–30 and advancing policy, systemic, and cultural change through training, field mobilization, and national leadership.
Reporting to the Executive Director and collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Executive Leadership Team, the CDO will oversee all aspects of resource development, data management, and board relations. The role is responsible for all fundraising efforts and initiatives, with oversight of annual fundraising goals in the range indicated in the description, and will sometimes function as a player-coach by leveraging relationships and expertise to enhance revenue from foundations, corporations, high-net-worth donors, and potentially government agencies.
Core expectations include building and leading development operations with strategic sophistication and best-practice discipline, mentoring team members, and hiring and training a high-functioning development team. The ideal candidate will be able to create and execute a long-term development strategy while aligning with the client’s values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, including commitments to disrupting anti-Blackness and dismantling white supremacy.
