The client is seeking a Chief Credit Officer to provide leadership and support of all credit department operations. This role will oversee the bank’s loan risk management process, support quality control efforts to minimize losses, and maintain and evolve loan policies and procedures to ensure sound underwriting practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Chief Credit Officer will stay current on banking regulatory changes and industry best practices, monitor economic trends, and communicate material considerations affecting the loan portfolio or credit policy to senior leadership and relevant governance bodies. The role will develop and oversee internal credit training, hire, coach, and develop the credit team, ensure loans are properly documented for covenant compliance and safety and soundness through loan operations, and oversee impairment analysis, loan reviews, loan packet preparation, and stress testing.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least ten years of related work experience that includes financial/credit analysis and lending, including management experience. The candidate should have heavy experience with C&I lending; loan workout and SBA experience is preferred, as is completion of formal bank management executive education or a related financial industry degree program. The role also expects the ability to create and analyze credit presentations and documentation, interpret business and technical materials, and support continuing education and training sessions as required.
