Description

the client is seeking a Chief Credit Officer to lead and support all credit department operations. The role is responsible for overseeing credit policy and credit performance across commercial real estate, commercial and industrial, and SBA-related credits, while ensuring the overall quality of the bank’s lending portfolio. As a key member of leadership, the Chief Credit Officer will participate in governance activities and committees, including loan and pricing review bodies.

key responsibilities include leading the credit team and supporting loan products, policies, and procedures; ensuring high-quality credit analysis, portfolio stress testing, and monthly Loan Loss Reserve/CECL allocations; and reviewing large and complex loans prior to submission to the loan committee to recommend appropriate structure, terms, and pricing to manage credit risk. The role also supports annual loan growth goals, coordinates external loan audits and regulatory examinations, and prepares credit information that highlights loan quality trends, growth indicators, and portfolio concentration.

the Chief Credit Officer will manage portfolio stress testing, ensure accurate risk rating of loans for approval processes, and supervise special assets activities such as curing weak credits, collections, credit movement, and implementation of loan action plans. Additional duties include reporting and presenting loan and reserve information to the board, preparing special assets re-aging reports for board review, and supporting relationships and requests involving SBA-guaranteed loan programs when strategically beneficial. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least ten years of related experience in financial/credit analysis and lending, with management experience required; experience in C&I lending is required, and loan workout and SBA experience are preferred, along with formal executive education or a financial industry-related degree program, as well as strong skills in credit presentations, policy and procedure development, and interpreting technical and regulatory materials.
