the client is seeking a Chief Accountant for a hospitality group in Limassol, reporting to the group CFO and CEO. This role is responsible for overall financial management and for supervising and developing team members through on-the-job oversight based on human organizational principles.
Key responsibilities include monitoring financial accounting systems, transactions, policies, and procedures; preparing and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and accounting reports, including trial balances, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports; and analyzing financial information to support budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis from actual results versus budgets and forecasts. The role also approves payments to subcontractors and suppliers, manages and controls the efficient use of hotel financial and operational software interfaces (including end-of-day processes and daily revenue review), and supports budget preparation while tracking monthly variances and helping proactively prevent significant variances. Compliance with applicable accounting standards and laws, including VAT and related documentation, is also required.
The Chief Accountant will liaise with auditors in preparation for annual audit reporting, provide management accounts, and oversee payroll-related activities including salary payments and required social insurance, PAYE, and other reporting obligations. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance, typically at least five years of experience in a similar role (with hospitality experience as an advantage), proficiency in financial software, and strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask under pressure and meet financial deadlines while working independently and collaboratively.
