the client is seeking a dynamic leader for the position of Chief of the Section of Rheumatology. The role calls for strong clinical medicine and research credentials, along with demonstrable leadership and management capabilities. Candidates should have national academic stature and be accomplished clinicians, and they should be qualified for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
The Section Chief will provide strategic leadership and direction across the Section’s research, education, and clinical missions. This leader will help shape the Section’s culture during a period of significant growth, promote an academic and clinical environment that supports access for the communities served, and elevate the academic mission in partnership with internal medicine section chiefs and other leaders across the medical school and health system. The Chief will also foster a strong teaching environment and support continued advancement of undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.
Responsibilities include clinical leadership to enhance quality of care and expand clinical capabilities, promoting best practices and improving access to rheumatology services. The Chief will oversee rheumatology faculty and community practices to ensure high standards of care, align section goals with enterprise clinical and academic missions, and manage Section operations and financial performance. The role will involve recruiting and retaining high-performing faculty, community providers, and staff, maintaining a collaborative and transparent atmosphere, and engaging actively in rheumatology at a national level.
