Description

The client is seeking a Chief of the division of Academic General Pediatrics, a physician leadership role focused on advancing academic general pediatrics. The division supports academic medicine through clinical care, medical education, research, and quality improvement, with oversight of a team that includes general pediatric clinicians and support staff. The chief will also be expected to serve in a parallel leadership capacity for General Pediatrics within affiliated pediatric hospital and academic settings.

Key responsibilities include setting strategic vision and providing division leadership, ensuring clinical excellence through evidence-based, high-quality, compassionate pediatric care, and serving as a clinical resource. The chief will lead program development initiatives to enhance access and improve quality, champion patient safety and quality improvement, and foster a research-friendly environment with resources and mentorship for scholarly activities. The role also includes oversight of educational programs for fellows, residents, and medical students, mentorship of junior faculty and trainees, and administrative management of division resources to support efficient operations, faculty growth, recruitment, and retention.

Qualifications include board certification in pediatrics and proven experience in a leadership role within pediatric healthcare. The client seeks strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills, along with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. Experience in academic medicine and teaching is highly desirable, and the chief is expected to hold sufficient academic credentials to be appointed at the associate professor level or higher at the affiliated medical school. The chief will maintain an active clinical practice at approximately 0.5 FTE and support collaboration and growth among physicians, residents, and staff.
