Description

The client is a person-centred, rights-based organization focused on enhancing the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Operating in Dublin, Limerick, North Tipperary, and Offaly, the client provides services to over 3,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities or complex support needs, and employs over 2,000 staff members. The client is registered with both the Companies Registration Office and the Charity Regulatory Authority. As a section 38 organization, it receives core funding through contracts with entities such as the HSE and Pobal, delivered under Service Level Agreements.

The client is seeking a charity trustee with a legal background. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in a legal expertise role, such as a Qualified Solicitor or Barrister. A successful applicant will possess knowledge of the relevant requirements under the 2009 Charities Act, the Charities Regulator, including the Charities Governance Code, and the 2014 Companies Act. The candidate should have experience in employment law, human rights, the disability sector, and corporate governance. Preferably, applicants should also have experience with a Board of Directors.

The Board consists of committees focusing on Audit, Assets, Finance and Remuneration, as well as Quality and Risk. Meetings are held six times a year, primarily online. Membership in one of these committees would require a time commitment of 12 to 24 hours every two months.
