We are seeking an experienced voluntary board member (trustee) to support The client in strengthening board capacity for nonprofit leadership and contributing to strategic relationship development. The client’s mission centers on the power of stories to create empathy, challenge stereotypes, and support youth wellbeing through storytelling programs and community-facing initiatives. The board will focus on strengthening and expanding The client’s core work, scaling key initiatives sustainably, and increasing the reach and impact of its programmes.
The trustee will contribute to governance, strategic oversight, and resource management. Responsibilities include advising on governance and embedding good practice, contributing to the development and monitoring of strategic direction and strategic plans in line with relevant legislation and regulatory practice, and supporting financial oversight to ensure resources are managed effectively according to agreed policies. The trustee will also be expected to actively engage in board strategic discussions, advocate for the organization, and help build and maintain meaningful partnerships and introductions.
Ideal candidates will bring a robust understanding of governance and the dynamics of an effective board, with experience serving on a charity or not-for-profit board and strong governance expertise, including knowledge of charity and company law in Ireland. Excellent communication skills and the ability to commit sufficient time to attend board meetings and complete follow-up activities are required. Strategic thinking, a genuine commitment to The client’s mission and values, and an interest or experience in the educational sphere (as an asset) are also welcomed.
