Description

the client invites applications and nominations for the next Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery. the client anchors a high-acuity, referral-based enterprise with comprehensive subspecialty neurosurgical care, and this role is expected to shape the next phase of an academic neurosurgery program while expanding its regional and national impact. the department delivers comprehensive subspecialty care across a distributed clinical network, with established strengths in cerebrovascular and stroke, complex cranial neurosurgery, and neurocritical care, including central participation in Joint Commission–certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers and a mature telestroke network serving a large and diverse population.

the department includes more than 25 faculty, nine residents, multiple fellowship programs, and a growing research portfolio supported by NIH, foundations, and industry. the Chair will provide strategic and operational leadership across all department missions, working across the client’s partnership with a healthcare organization and a jointly sponsored residency program to align training and strengthen subspecialty areas. the role will support scaling clinical, research, and educational impact by building alignment across institutional partners in a distributed, relationship-driven environment.

reporting to the senior vice president and dean of the school-level entity, the Chair is expected to be an experienced academic neurosurgeon with a strong record of academic leadership, scholarship, and program development, along with a clear vision for advancing neurosurgery. the client will support continued clinical and academic growth through effective oversight and coordination of the department’s clinical, research, and education activities, with a commitment to an education and employment environment free of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
