The client is seeking a Chair to lead its board and provide strategic vision and credible leadership across the international development and volunteering context. The role will support the organization’s mission around global justice, community mobilisation, and advocacy for a world beyond injustice, with particular emphasis on understanding official development assistance and the funding landscape, including relationships with key Irish funders and other potential sources of support.
The Chair will be expected to provide organizational leadership and governance oversight, drawing on experience relevant to strategic leadership, organisational development, people and safeguarding, governance, accountability, legal and compliance, and finance and risk management. The client has an established board with strengths across finance, HR, risk, and governance, and the Chair will be sought to address a specific leadership gap while helping sustain mature governance and policy frameworks.
The appointment will also support sustainability efforts amid funding challenges, including concluding a restructure process that aligns the organization’s size with its budget for the coming period, while maintaining confidence in the organization’s financial resilience. Desirable strengths include direct credibility and experience with Irish official development assistance and potential funders, as well as competence in mission and sector leadership, funder relations and strategic partnerships, communications and public engagement, advocacy and public policy influence, and stakeholder networking and engagement.
