Description

the client invites applications for the position of department chair in the department of entrepreneurship. The department chair leads the department’s strategic initiatives and oversees day-to-day operations, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, supervision, and mentoring. The role also includes serving as a member of the client’s executive committee and reporting to the associate dean of faculty excellence. The chair will work with multiple direct reports, including the executive director of an entrepreneurship institute.

The department of entrepreneurship brings together strong academic scholarship and rigorous theoretical and empirical research with immersive, practice-based learning opportunities for students. Its curriculum and experiential learning emphasize areas such as startup and venture capital, social entrepreneurship and impact investing, corporate innovation and technology commercialization, and creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. The department’s approach includes teacher-scholars with founder experience, interdisciplinary engagement across undergraduate majors, immersive experiential learning in classes and co-curricular programs, and integration with entrepreneurial ecosystem partners.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship, management, or a closely related discipline. Appointment at the associate professor level typically requires strong research with publications in high-quality entrepreneurship outlets and a teaching portfolio in entrepreneurship; appointment at the full professor level typically requires an exceptional record of high-quality teaching and an established research reputation in entrepreneurship. Consideration may be given for applicants with demonstrated administrative effectiveness and the ability to engage with a broad range of constituents, including faculty, students, administration, alumni, and the business community. The chair position is expected to begin in July 2026, and candidates are expected to submit a letter of interest and curriculum vitae for review.
