Description

the client is seeking a Department of Family Medicine Chairperson to join the faculty and lead the clinical and educational program. the chairperson will oversee the Family Medicine Residency and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, guiding training programs and institutional requirements while maintaining an environment that supports scholarly inquiry, professionalism, and diversity. the role will serve as the academic training center for residents and fellows and also supports medical students and behavioral health interns through faculty appointments.

Faculty will supervise residents and fellows in outpatient and inpatient settings, and contribute to didactic teaching, curriculum development, and an active outpatient clinical practice. the department works collaboratively across quality, growth, academic, and research efforts with partner organizations within the client’s broader health network. the chairperson is expected to be a role model by demonstrating compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and dedication to lifelong learning.

Key responsibilities include leading family medicine strategic planning and recruitment activities, fostering continuous quality improvement, inspiring physician engagement and leadership, and recruiting top physician talent in collaboration with existing faculty. the chairperson will encourage and support providers’ professional development, create a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, and unify the group to support strategic innovation and growth. Qualifications include an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree, board certification in Family Medicine, eligibility for Georgia licensure, and at least 5 years of experience as a professor and academic faculty member; prior community-based leadership experience is desirable, along with strong written and verbal communication skills and a passion for teaching.
