The client seeks applicants for the position of Chair within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Professor. The Chair will provide visionary leadership for the department by developing and implementing a mission and growth strategy that aligns with relevant institutional plans and university-wide initiatives. This role will drive research and academic excellence by overseeing faculty recruitment, professional development, and performance while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
The Chair will oversee and mentor department faculty located across multiple campuses, supporting faculty engaged in graduate and medical education research initiatives. Responsibilities include building and sustaining high-quality, funded research programs across basic, translational, and clinical domains. The role also emphasizes mentoring faculty in research initiatives and promoting scholarly contributions, including publications and presentations, while maintaining an active federally funded research program.
Key responsibilities include developing a strategic vision for education, biomedical research, and clinical care; contributing to and supporting educational training aligned with accreditation standards; coordinating faculty teaching and clinical responsibilities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders; leading recruitment, onboarding, retention, and promotion efforts; mentoring faculty career advancement across scholarly, teaching, research, clinical practice, and service activities; facilitating faculty development for promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review; conducting annual faculty performance reviews and evaluations with goal setting; ensuring fair and equitable determination of faculty assignments; and managing appointment and renewal processes for faculty serving in education assignments.
