Description

the client is seeking an inaugural Chief Executive Officer to provide overall strategic leadership and ensure the organization’s operational, financial, and cultural success. Reporting to the client’s Board of Directors, the CEO will oversee organizational performance, guide execution of priorities, and serve as the primary external representative across the public media ecosystem and beyond. This role will lead a lean team and is expected to maintain strong alignment between the client’s mission and day-to-day strategy.

The CEO will lead a critical transition from legacy satellite-based distribution systems to modern IP-based infrastructure, while supporting initiatives such as unified analytics platforms, next-generation emergency alerting capabilities, and shared digital services that strengthen community reach. In parallel, the CEO is expected to help build an economic model intended to sustain these services beyond an initial funding period, with a focus on long-term viability for smaller organizations that rely on shared infrastructure. As part of a formative organizational stage, the CEO will also support the evolution of the service portfolio in partnership with public media organizations by aggregating resources and expertise at scale.

This opportunity calls for a hands-on leader who can balance strategic vision with practical execution, including building systems, forging partnerships, and translating ideas into implementation. The client’s collaborative, station-centered approach and commitment to universal access mean the CEO will work closely with stations, content providers, and system partners to shape how the organization delivers the greatest value over time. The CEO should be prepared to lead organizational development in a model rooted in shared ownership, mutual accountability, and enduring service to communities.
