Description

The client seeks a Chief Executive Officer to provide senior-most leadership, strategy, and public storytelling to advance the mission of ending violence against women and girls. The role combines entrepreneurial drive with movement leadership to unite grassroots advocacy and diplomacy, strengthen international norms and standards, and support efforts that help governments meet their commitments through stronger international law and effective implementation.

The CEO is expected to lead with feminist values alignment and to embody principles that sustain trust, credibility, and collective power across a global coalition. This includes sharing power responsibly, centering equity, practicing transparency, strengthening collective well-being, and turning shared insights into actionable outcomes in a movement-based environment shaped by diverse cultures, geographies, and power dynamics. The organization also emphasizes addressing increasing hostility toward activists and sustaining impact through shared learning and collective care.

Strong candidates will typically bring a blend of leadership and impact across several areas: lived leadership or educational background related to women’s rights, human rights, and prevention of violence against women (with undergraduate study as a minimum and graduate study preferred), demonstrated fundraising success including responsibility for annual totals at a multi-million level, leadership experience in women’s international human rights campaigns, and extensive communications/spokesperson experience that includes securing major media attention and engaging/mobilizing support. Candidates should also demonstrate a sustained, multi-year commitment to the issue through women’s rights, human rights, or related prevention work.
