The client is seeking a Capital Campaign Director to help lead a major philanthropic campaign supporting its educational mission and public dialogue about the American-Jewish experience. The role will contribute to meeting ambitious philanthropic income goals by focusing on major and principal gifts, including high-value annual fundraising needs and a newly launched renewal effort. In this capacity, the Director will develop and execute strategies to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, prospects, and institutional stakeholders for annual and capital giving.
The Capital Campaign Director will report to the Chief Development Officer and work closely with the President & CEO, including a dotted-line relationship. Core responsibilities include ensuring all aspects of the capital campaign move forward; creating individualized strategies for major donor prospects; managing day-to-day campaign implementation details such as meeting arrangements, campaign correspondence, and monitoring gift and pledge records; and conducting prospect research. The role will partner with volunteers, professional staff, and donors to support successful campaign execution.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong relationship-building skills and a proven ability to cultivate and solicit major gifts from a diverse donor base, potentially in the six-, seven-, and eight-figure range. This position typically requires 6–10 years of relevant development experience with a record in major gift cultivation and solicitation and effective portfolio management, including prospect research, moves management or similar processes, and donor stewardship. The candidate is also expected to have experience developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic campaign plans; setting goals and measuring success; reporting progress to senior leaders and board members; building the case for support; and executing multi-stakeholder initiatives with the ability to engage senior organizational constituents.
