Description

the client is a global auction house with expertise across fine art, watches, jewelry, handbags, luxury vehicles, and wines & spirits, including a heritage in car auctions and a strong position in the luxury market. In this role, a US/Global Business Development Executive will drive business growth within the automotive department, leveraging a network of high-net-worth individuals with a particular focus on classic, modern, and contemporary collector cars.

Responsibilities include prospecting new business opportunities through client and dealer networks to meet annual sales targets, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with buyers and sellers to encourage repeat business. The role will also support the appraisal process and assist in preparing consignments for auction, collaborate with the Head of Department on growth strategies, attend and support motoring events to increase visibility and sales, and conduct research to accurately catalog vehicles for auction.

Additional responsibilities involve contributing to and editing auction catalogues prior to printing, supporting global sales meetings that require travel within the US and internationally, and staying informed on competitor strategies and market dynamics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development within luxury sectors, particularly in auction houses or high-end automotive retail, along with strong communication and relationship-building skills, excellent written and verbal communication, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines; familiarity with the auction process is beneficial, while established knowledge of collector car markets and an established network of high-net-worth collectors are expected.
