The role will lead business development activity across defense and government accounts, with a focus on building qualified pipeline and advancing strategic pursuits. Responsibilities include developing and growing relationships with defense prime contractors, government agencies, and key mission stakeholders; identifying, qualifying, and maturing new opportunities from early-stage engagement through capture planning and proposal support; and translating customer priorities and market signals into actionable account plans and revenue strategies. The director will partner with internal leadership and technical teams to align solutions with customer needs and competitive positioning.
The director will strengthen teaming and partner relationships to improve access and expand reach while supporting long-term growth objectives. The position requires representing the organization in customer meetings and industry events, maintaining disciplined opportunity tracking and market intelligence across the business development lifecycle, and demonstrating executive presence with strong communication and relationship management skills. The client expects proven business development experience in defense and government markets, strong relationships across relevant defense contractors and federal, state, and local government organizations, experience shaping opportunities and supporting capture efforts in complex federal environments, and an understanding of defense procurement cycles, stakeholder mapping, and customer engagement strategy; an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCIB is expected, and a bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
