The client is a data and technology company focused on enabling procurement and related services for pre-owned luxury goods, built to scale like a startup. It provides proprietary data and technology along with turn-key procurement, global logistics, and retail inventory insight. The client aims to grow by expanding partnerships with retailers, travel retail operators, brands, and luxury goods groups.

The Business Development Director will develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the client’s growth objectives. Responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new opportunities to support pre-owned luxury goods store openings, as well as partnering with brands to manage the full product life cycle through certified pre-owned offerings. The role involves building relationships with senior decision-makers, educating clients on the benefits of the client’s turn-key solution and business model, negotiating and closing deals with large organizations, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure successful implementation with partners.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in business development through strategic partnerships, with strong familiarity with the luxury goods industry. The position typically calls for a strong C-level network within department stores, travel retail operators, luxury brands, or brand groups, along with excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to educate clients and drive adoption of a new business model. The role requires strategic thinking and strong negotiation and deal-closing skills, and is expected to be fulfilled by candidates with at least 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, plus a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
