The client is seeking a Business Development Director to originate, advance, and secure high-impact investment projects in priority technology and professional/financial services sectors. This director will lead proactive engagement efforts, manage investment opportunities from initial outreach through operational establishment, and help drive organizational performance metrics related to job creation, capital investment, and sector diversification, while strengthening sector positioning and stakeholder alignment.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing sector-specific business attraction strategies; identifying target companies with expansion or relocation potential based on market trends and strategic fit; and conducting ongoing analysis of industry dynamics, competitive jurisdictions, and investment drivers to shape outreach priorities and the value proposition. The role will create tailored proposals and presentations, serve as a primary point of contact for prospective companies and investors, and coordinate internally and externally to address permitting, infrastructure, regulatory, and operational requirements throughout the relocation or expansion process.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related business development field, with an advanced degree preferred. The client expects 10+ years of experience in business development, investment promotion, or a related field with a focus on the technology sector, along with a proven record of attracting and managing large-scale investments and building industry partnerships. Additional qualifications include strong sector knowledge (including technology innovation, infrastructure, cybersecurity/defense tech, fintech, BPO, and emerging areas such as AI and IoT and logistics), familiarity with the local regulatory and incentive environment, exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
