Description

the client is seeking a BSA Officer to support the origination and underwriting of commercial loan, franchise loan, and owner-occupied commercial real estate applications, while also managing key client relationships. The role centers on ensuring effective compliance oversight and strengthening risk management across the institution’s banking activities.

Key responsibilities include automated transaction monitoring and review of alerts (including use of monitoring software) and some manual monitoring for higher-risk accounts, as well as the timely filing of CTRs and SARs. The officer will write and update BSA/AML/OFAC risk assessments, policies, and procedures, ensure implementation and adherence, and provide quarterly BSA/AML statistics reporting. Additional duties include serving as the key contact for auditors and examiners, chairing the BSA committee with monthly reporting on relevant compliance activity, and supporting audits by supplying requested documents and participating in interviews.

The BSA Officer will identify gaps in high-risk client documentation and work with clients to meet CDD and EDD requirements, partner with senior management on the suitability of certain high-risk prospective clients during onboarding, and co-manage ongoing high-risk client relationships (including attending periodic onsite visits). The role also includes periodically creating and presenting BSA/AML training for employees, maintaining a thorough understanding of BSA/AML/OFAC requirements (including those tied to certain high-risk industries), and managing, directing, and developing staff. Required qualifications include strong verbal and written communication skills, a detail-oriented approach, financial analysis skills, knowledge of commercial lending and owner-occupied commercial real estate lending as well as loan policy and regulatory requirements, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), professional client interaction, collaboration across lending, loan operations, and deposit operations, and the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines; a college degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent related experience is expected, along with completion of a credit training program (preferably through a bank credit department) and prior experience in commercial lending, ideally including franchise finance and construction lending.
