the client is seeking a BSA Officer to implement and manage an effective Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance program for the bank. The role is focused on ensuring adherence to applicable regulations while supporting the Compliance Office with attention to BSA, security, and internal audit procedures and policies, including activities such as auditing loan files, security, and cash.
Key responsibilities include conducting BSA/AML audits and completing related follow-up, serving as an internal auditor (including assessing operational risk at the branch level, cash counts, second reviews for new accounts, and secondary post-closing reviews), and managing exception reporting through follow-up and documentation. The position also involves maintaining a current understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including relevant policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practices, and emerging criminal activity and trends.
The BSA Officer will help develop and deliver staff BSA/AML/OFAC training, identify weaknesses in practices and procedures and recommend solutions that improve compliance without unnecessarily burdening business units, and provide compliance guidance and information to relevant internal departments. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, two or more years of prior experience in regulatory matters, strong ability to read and interpret statutes and regulations, effective verbal and written communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to work with people across organizational levels and with regulatory agencies and external contacts; CAMS is preferred and familiarity with core banking systems and reports is desirable.
