Description

The client is seeking committed individuals to join its Board of Trustees, with the opportunity to contribute to governance and strategic direction to support student mental health. The charity provides a free, confidential, anonymous, non-judgemental listening and information service for third-level students across Ireland, supported by peer-led services and mental health advocacy. Trustees are expected to uphold high standards of governance while helping strengthen and grow the organization’s impact.

As a Trustee, you will provide governance oversight and strategic guidance, act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries, and support delivery of the mission and long-term strategic objectives. You will monitor organisational performance, risk, and compliance, and may serve on Board committees or support specific projects where relevant expertise can add value. The role also includes serving as an ambassador to help expand the network of supporters and partners.

Candidates will typically bring senior professional experience aligned with areas such as corporate governance and effectiveness, risk management and compliance, strategic planning and organisational development, legal and regulatory compliance, data protection and governance, employment or commercial law, and/or marketing and communications including brand strategy, digital and public relations, and fundraising and campaign development. The client is particularly interested in individuals with strong ethical standards, sound judgement, passion for student wellbeing, and the ability to contribute strategically and collaboratively in a governance setting, with previous board experience preferred. The time commitment is approximately 4–6 Board meetings per year, with committee meetings and occasional strategic planning sessions; Board meetings are held both in-person in Dublin and online.
