The client is seeking qualified candidates in the West of Ireland to join the client's Board of Trustees, specifically those with expertise in accounting, financial control, or company secretarial experience.
The role involves regular engagement with management and participation in periodic in-person board meetings. The client provides accessible mental health services, including online and in-person counselling sessions, having delivered over 7,000 sessions in 2023 covering various areas like couples, youth, addiction, and bereavement.
The expanding Board of Directors, comprised entirely of volunteers, requires new members who will become Directors of the company.
The role requires Board members to attend meetings regularly, totaling ten times a year, plus an annual general meeting, with a mix of in-person and remote participation. In addition to attending meetings, Board members are expected to engage actively in committees, initiate and accept strategic assignments, and foster effective collaboration among Board Members to support the Boards operations.
While the candidate's main expertise should be in financial control or accountancy, prior experience as a Treasurer would be beneficial, and a willingness to take on the role of Company Secretary is advantageous.
The successful candidate will provide general guidance and mentoring to the charity's management and Board on financial matters. They are also expected to join the Board's Finance, Governance, Risk, and Remuneration sub-committee. Additional responsibilities include supporting management and staff in preparing financial statements, overseeing financial performance against targets and budgets, and ensuring that financial records comply with auditing standards in line with the annual general meeting date.
