The client is seeking committed individuals to serve on its board of directors for a three-year term starting january 2027 and ending december 2029. board members provide leadership in overseeing and supporting The client’s strategic plan and work to advance the organization’s mission and vision. directors are expected to share a commitment to STEAM education, the maker movement, and building community connections, while demonstrating a willingness to contribute their skills, attend meetings, and collaborate with board and staff.
directors will serve on at least one committee and are expected to participate in committee work, with committee options including DEIAJ, events, development, finance, information management, and governance. the board meets four times per year, with an additional meeting held as needed for special votes or additional discussion, and directors are required to attend all virtual and in-person board meetings as well as an in-person board retreat, in addition to committee meetings. directors are also expected to consider The client a philanthropic priority, make and/or solicit annual gifts, and attend fundraising and development activities as brand ambassadors and stewards of the mission.
qualified candidates are those with demonstrated dedication to diversity, equity, accessibility, inclusion, and justice practices, and/or an intersectional identity including experiences of being BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+. additional consideration may be given to individuals with interest in leading fundraising and friend-raising events to build the donor base, along with the ability to expand and nurture a broader community of supporters and participants. relevant expertise may include legal and human resources knowledge for nonprofit organizations, nonprofit accounting and finance expertise, fundraising, development, and networking for prospective donors, and prior nonprofit board and strategic planning experience; connections to relevant local communities and creative and technology industries may also be viewed favorably.
