The client is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to serve on its board of directors for a term spanning january 2027 through december 2029. board members, serving as ambassadors of The client, provide leadership in the oversight and execution of the organization’s strategic plan while actively supporting its mission and vision. directors are expected to share a commitment to STEAM education, the maker movement, and community connections, and to be prepared to contribute their skills, attend meetings, and collaborate with board colleagues and staff.
directors are required to participate in at least one committee (including DEIAJ, events, development, finance, information management, and governance) and to attend all virtual and in-person board meetings as well as an in-person board retreat, along with committee meetings. the board meets four times each year, with a possible fifth meeting held as needed for special votes or additional discussions. directors are expected to help advance The client as a philanthropic priority by making and/or soliciting annual gifts aligned with that priority and to participate in fundraising, marketing, and development activities as brand ambassadors and mission stewards.
The client’s mission focuses on using learning to help create a more equitable future for youth and learners, including building confidence through making and supporting learners through connection with makers, technologists, and artists. directors may be expected to grow into expanded leadership roles over time, such as committee chairs and officers. special consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate dedication to diversity, equity, accessibility, inclusion, and justice practices, who identify as BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ (or as intersectional across oppressed identities), who are interested in leading fundraising and friend-raising events, who have experience or skills aligned with nonprofit legal and human resources expertise, nonprofit accounting and finance expertise, or fundraising and development for donor cultivation, and who have prior nonprofit board or strategic planning experience or community connections to relevant neighborhoods and creative and technology industries.
