Description

The client seeks an experienced fundraising professional to join its board as a Board Member with fundraising expertise. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience at both strategic and operational levels in charity fundraising, specifically individual giving through Face2Face and digital fundraising, with additional expertise in mid and major donor giving as a bonus. A passion for women's rights and a strong commitment to international development and solidarity are essential. The Board Director with expertise in fundraising will provide strategic advice and support, ensuring the client can successfully deliver its fundraising strategy. Key responsibilities include overseeing fundraising approaches to ensure they are effective and well-executed, advising on cultivating and stewarding supporters and relationships, and identifying new partnership opportunities and income streams.

All Trustees are expected to contribute actively to the strategic direction of the organization alongside the senior management team, setting strategic goals and evaluating performance. Trustees must ensure the financial stability and proper investment of the charity's funds. They should have a strong commitment to the client's mission and values, the ability to work effectively within a diverse group, and the capability to ask probing questions and hold management to account. Trustees should bring diversity to the board in terms of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, background, or age. There is an expectation for Trustees to commit adequate time, including attending six board meetings annually and participating in email discussions with fellow Trustees and staff between meetings.

The client emphasizes the importance of board diversity and the ability to work within a diverse group. The role of a Trustee also involves participating in board away days and strategy sessions as needed. Board recruitment and development is managed by the client's Governance Board and Development Committee. Interested individuals are encouraged to express their interest in the role by providing a CV and expression of interest. This position requires the candidate to engage in the strategic governance of the organization and contribute to steering the charity towards achieving its overall mission and objectives.
