The client is seeking a Board Member with lived experience of the care system to provide insight, perspective, and advocacy that informs governance and strategic direction. the role is focused on ensuring that the voices of people with care experience are represented at the highest level of decision-making, supporting collective responsibility for the organization’s direction, and helping to strengthen oversight of strategy and sustainability.
Board Members contribute to overall governance and strategic oversight, providing lived-experience input to inform policies, programmes, and services. the role also includes advocating for care-experienced individuals so their needs remain central, and supporting the organization in adopting inclusive, trauma-informed approaches. Board Members participate actively in Board meetings and may also join relevant subcommittees and occasional strategy sessions to support focused discussions and effective decision-making.
Candidates should have lived experience of the care system, such as foster care, residential care, or aftercare services. The client is looking for someone passionate about improving outcomes for care-experienced individuals and able to contribute constructively in a governance environment. experience in advocacy, youth voice, or community engagement is valued, and while previous board or committee experience is not essential, commitment is expected through attendance at Board meetings (typically 4–6 per year) and participation in any occasional strategy sessions or subcommittee work.
