Built For Us PGH, a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking board members to help guide and strengthen their mission of creating space for LGBTQ+ individuals to thrive. The organization focuses on unlearning, reconnecting, and reclaiming belonging for the LGBTQ+ community, envisioning a world where individuals are empowered, protected, and celebrated. Board members are expected to attend meetings, offer strategic guidance, contribute to fundraising efforts, act as public ambassadors, and uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Ideal candidates for the volunteer board position are individuals deeply aligned with the values and vision of Built For Us PGH, well-connected, represent diverse identities and lived experiences, and able to contribute time, insights, and/or financial support to sustain the organization's growth. Candidates should have a strong personal or professional alignment with LGBTQ+ advocacy and healing, be based in or connected to the Pittsburgh region, and be willing to support team cohesion, strategic vision, and values-aligned growth. Lived experience as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, disabled, or formerly system-impacted is encouraged.
Those interested in becoming a board member for Built For Us PGH should be committed to a 1-3 year volunteer term, have availability for a minimum of 6 hours per month, and be comfortable contributing financially or supporting donor engagement. Prospective members will go through an interview and voting process led by the current board. This is an opportunity for individuals who care deeply about LGBTQ+ healing, advocacy, and community-building to play a vital role in shaping the organization's future and creating a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
