the client supports people affected by cancer through a range of free emotional, social, educational, and health-and-wellness programs and services. Support is available to individuals living with cancer of any age, as well as the families and friends who care for them. Programs may include short-term supportive counseling, professional-led support groups, community connection initiatives, creative expression activities, educational sessions, health and wellness offerings, and social events designed to build community and sustained support.
In addition to core programming, the client also facilitates evidence-based, cancer-focused programs that may include survivorship workshops, wellness-focused series, movement and nutrition consultations, and educational and emotional support for those grieving a cancer loss. These efforts are delivered through a dedicated staff supported by volunteers, with services available in person, at community locations, and virtually to expand access across its service area.
The client seeks board members with expertise across areas including health care and human services (such as oncology, mental health, and holistic wellness), social work, fundraising and development, legal, and marketing and communications. Board responsibilities are expected to support the organization’s mission and help guide program and service delivery, including oversight and strategic input across these priority expertise areas.
