Description

The client envisions a connected and thriving community where every individual is valued, empowered, and included in a just and prosperous future through fairness, compassion, and collective community leadership.

Their mission is focused on community creation and growth. Located in Penn Hills, PA, this nonprofit organization seeks to expand its board. For 15 years, the client has launched numerous projects and fostered community organizations like a community garden and tree commission.

In 2023, the client conducted a comprehensive community census and collaborated with local partners to host community events addressing key resident focus areas identified in the survey. The client recently completed a strategic plan and aims to expand its initiatives in marketing, communications, housing, neighborhood improvement, and economic development.

Board members play a vital volunteer role in supporting the overall administration and mission of the client. Responsibilities include providing general administrative and financial oversight, adhering to bylaws, contributing to fiduciary duties such as approving budgets and reviewing financial reports, and serving as ambassadors in the community.

Board members are expected to serve on at least one established or new committee, with several committees seeking new members. Current committees include Beautification & Streetscaping, Anti-Litter, and The Monarch & Milkweed Project, with new committees being established in alignment with the strategic plan.

Board members are elected to serve three-year terms and can be re-elected for one additional term. Attendance is required for monthly board meetings and quarterly general membership meetings. Candidates should reside in Penn Hills or have a business or organization there.

While the position comes with no financial compensation, reasonable preauthorized expense reimbursements are available. Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and a resume. The client encourages applicants with experience in housing, fundraising, communications, marketing, or grant writing. The application should include how the candidate can best support the mission and goals of the client.
