Description

The client invites committed professionals to serve on its Board of Directors and help advance an upstream, evidence-based approach to ending homelessness by preventing it. Board members act as ambassadors for the organization’s mission, contribute diverse professional perspectives, and support The client’s strategy and governance to help accomplish its goals.

Board members are elected for 3-year terms and may serve up to three terms. Board officers (chair, secretary, and treasurer) are elected for one-year terms. New York City residency is not required. Collectively, the Board is responsible for governance and strategy, including determining the mission and purposes, strategic planning and assessment, fiduciary oversight such as reviewing and approving the annual budget and audit, adherence to bylaws and policies, and board and CEO recruitment, as well as fundraising and resource development.

Individual commitments include participation in four 90-minute board meetings per year, membership in at least one board committee (with committees meeting two to four times a year), familiarity with The client’s mission and purpose, ambassador activities to leverage connections and networks for financial resources and partnerships, review of financial reports, signing and updating an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure, maintaining confidentiality regarding internal matters, and contributing or raising $25,000 annually. The client’s development team supports board members in creating an individual fundraising strategy using a combination of institutional and individual fundraising approaches, pro bono support, and personal contributions.
