Description

The client is seeking a Board Member with fundraising experience to support its governance, strategic oversight, and fundraising activities. The role is focused on contributing to the charity’s “triple lock” approach to good governance and ensuring that leadership and decision-making align with relevant regulatory and compliance expectations across clinical, corporate, and fundraising operations.

Key responsibilities include providing senior-level input on charity fundraising strategy, including maximising efforts through innovative approaches and best practices; supporting collective governance and compliance with applicable regulations; contributing to the development and monitoring of the charity’s strategic direction; and supporting sound financial oversight to ensure resources are managed effectively in line with agreed policies. The role also includes fulfilling general duties of a charity trustee, such as acting in the best interests of the charity, exercising reasonable care and skill, complying with the governing document, and managing charity assets appropriately.

The ideal candidate will have direct, senior-level experience in charity fundraising, including philanthropy and fundraising strategies such as grants, major donor fundraising, and corporate and/or individual giving. Leadership experience at CEO or C-suite level in a large not-for-profit/charity, or comparable experience as Head of Fundraising, is preferred or expected. Previous board experience is preferred but not required; governance training or qualification is an advantage, and strong interpersonal and communications skills are required to engage effectively with stakeholders and fellow board members. Board members should be able to commit sufficient time for meetings and follow-up responsibilities, typically 2–3 hours per month, with six in-person meetings per year at The client’s premises in Leopardstown, Dublin, and hybrid attendance only by exception.
