Description

The client is seeking two new board members for a disability-led, disability-focused arts organisation that champions disabled artists’ voices through an annual festival and year-round programme. The festival presents theatre, dance, visual arts and more using relaxed engagement formats designed to support accessible participation in Dublin and online, with reach across Ireland and beyond. The client aims to improve the visibility and sustainability of disabled artists and arts workers and works toward a board that is majority-led by disabled people.

Board members will provide strategic legal, accounting and arts sector insight to support sound, compliant decision-making and strong governance. responsibilities include upholding high standards of governance, supporting compliance with applicable company and equal status obligations, and assisting in reviewing policies and procedures to ensure they are legally sound, aligned to regulatory standards, and consistent with rights reflected in the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. This is an unpaid volunteer board role, and new members are expected to help shape and influence the organisation’s future direction, including strategic planning for a five-year period.

The client is recruiting candidates with relevant expertise in law, accounting, and arts sector experience to complement existing directors, some of whom are disabled artists with extensive arts sector experience. essential qualifications include relevant qualifications and at least five years’ experience in legal practice, and candidates are expected to be committed to the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. Lived experience of disability is a distinct advantage, and candidates should have a strong understanding of the contemporary disability arts landscape and disability rights.
