The client is recruiting new board members to strengthen governance and support an arts-focused, nonprofit organization. The board is expected to be majority-led by disabled people, and new directors will help shape a five-year strategic direction as The client consolidates lessons learned from prior festival and company development. The role is an unpaid volunteer position, and new members are expected to bring expertise that complements existing directors, including responsive access supports that enable full participation.
Key responsibilities include providing strategic insight across legal, accounting, and the arts sector to ensure decisions align with legal obligations; supporting high standards of governance and compliance with relevant company and equality legislation; and assisting with the review of policies and procedures so they are legally sound, meet regulatory standards, and align with rights reflected in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Legal expertise is specifically sought in company and employment law, alongside lived experience of disability or a clear understanding of disability rights; relevant qualifications and at least five years’ experience in legal practice are expected, and lived experience of disability is a distinct advantage. The board role also calls for strategic thinking, integrity, sound judgment, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively at board level, with commitment to the UN Convention principles.
The client anticipates four board meetings per year, one each quarter, with one meeting held in-person in Dublin City Centre and the remaining meetings held online at a mutually convenient time. Members are expected to have time to prepare for and attend meetings and to commit to the role for a three-year term. The client is also seeking two additional board members with accounting experience and artistic and sector leadership experience.
