The client provides crucial services to over 7,600 people and families annually across several counties in Ireland who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Their offerings include outreach, emergency accommodation, treatment, counseling, and recovery services for individuals experiencing homelessness with addiction. They also provide long-term supported housing, independent housing units, tenancy support, and resettlement support, alongside education and employability programs designed to help people rebuild their lives. By effectively combining crisis intervention with long-term solutions, the client aims to break the cycle of homelessness.
The client is seeking a board member with HR expertise who will serve on the Nomination & Remuneration Committee. Key responsibilities include advising the board on HR matters and best practices, evaluating HR policies and ensuring compliance with best practices, and providing well-considered advice. The ideal candidate should have significant professional HR experience at a senior level, thorough knowledge of Irish employment law and HR best practices, and the ability to exhibit strong communication, judgment, and strategic thinking. While experience in the homelessness, health, or social care sectors is welcomed, it is not mandatory. The candidate must be committed to the organization's mission and values and uphold high governance standards.
The position requires participation in seven board meetings annually, held predominantly in person in Dublin, except for one online meeting in July. The Nomination & Remuneration Committee meets online on Monday evenings. Additional commitments include an annual Board Evaluation Day in the fourth quarter, as well as opportunities to attend events and service visits. The successful candidate must be able to meet these time requirements to fulfill the role dutifully.
