Description

The client, a voluntary organization and national charity established in 1951, is dedicated to supporting children and adults with disabilities in Ireland. They offer general and highly specialized services in partnership with various sectors, focusing on medical and surgical interventions, therapeutic, and assistive technology services. These services are designed to help individuals with complex disabilities and rare conditions achieve their maximum potential.

Adult services are primarily located in Dublin and aim to support individuals in pursuing education and employment opportunities. Additionally, the client leads five Childrens Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) across several locations, providing essential services for children from birth to 18 years with complex needs. These efforts align with the national programme aimed at ensuring equitable access to disability services.

As trustees of two special schools, the client is committed to educating 161 children with physical and complex disabilities. The client operates under a strategic vision to enhance service delivery for a growing number of families, funded by state grants and donations. As a registered charity incorporated as a Section 38 Organisation, the client employs an average of 400 people and is further supported by volunteers.

Their five-year strategic plan emphasizes the importance of delivering timely support, recognizing disability as a societal enrichment, and working collaboratively with families and partners to create an inclusive world. The client seeks a board member experienced in the disability sector to provide fiduciary oversight and ensure the client remains aligned with its strategy and governance framework. This role involves managing risk, ensuring adequate resources, and maintaining compliance with laws and the clients constitution.

The board member will contribute to oversight and accountability, working to uphold the clients mission and values.
