Description

The client is seeking an AVP of Quality responsible for clinical quality and patient safety outcomes across the hospital, ambulatory outpatient division, and in expanding community and post-discharge efforts. Reporting to the Chief Quality and Clinical Informatics Officer, the role leads the Quality Division’s program for continuous improvement, readiness, quality reporting and measures, and a culture of high reliability and safety. The AVP of Quality is also accountable for population health objectives and advancing organizational capabilities aligned with system strategies to improve community health.

Direct reports include the Director of Clinical Quality & Performance Improvement and the Director of Strategic Quality Performance, supported by leadership roles such as the Manager of Accreditation and the Manager of Quality & Population Health, with an overall team size of approximately 23 individuals. The AVP of Quality will lead and coordinate efforts to strengthen quality and performance improvement practices, including developing and implementing program components rather than only using externally established initiatives.

Required qualifications include a Master’s degree and 10+ years of leadership experience within a healthcare system, including 5+ years leading quality, performance improvement, and patient safety functions, plus 5+ years working directly with hospital department managers and staff. The role also requires 5+ years assessing, formulating, and implementing aspects of the Quality/Performance Improvement program within the organization. Preferred qualifications include certification in healthcare quality and, optionally, experience as the administrative head of quality with primary, direct responsibility for all quality outcomes; strong knowledge of quality management, performance improvement, and patient safety, along with leadership, problem-solving, analytical, confidentiality, and drive-for-results capabilities, are expected.
