the client is seeking an Associate Vice President, Patient Care & Prevention Facilities to lead the management and provision of space and properties supporting patient care and prevention missions, including maintenance operations, alteration, housekeeping, and repair for facilities serving the greater Houston area cancer network. The role provides day-to-day operational direction for patient care and prevention facilities, collaborates with facilities planning, design, and construction on major and minor project management, and directs staff to ensure safe and efficient facilities operations in line with joint commission code and related standards.
The Associate Vice President will partner with senior leadership across facilities management, clinical infrastructure development, and clinical operations to advance program priorities and objectives. The position operates with general direction under broad policy guidelines and substantial latitude for self-directed action within the Patient Care and Prevention Facilities department, and will support divisional leadership responsibilities and assume full divisional management in the absence of the relevant leadership roles as needed.
Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining an environment that aligns with joint commission environment of care standards, supporting safety and emergency preparedness activities, and maintaining high-appearance standards through renovations and furniture updates. The role will provide customer-focused engagement through facility inspections, rounding, customer meetings, participation in clinical departmental meetings, and prudent use of approved departmental funds for projects. It also plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the planning, construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of assigned areas, arranges contractual services for minor projects, oversees housekeeping and maintenance services, resolves operations and maintenance issues, reviews construction plans and specifications to ensure operational readiness, establishes building operating and maintenance procedures, and supports energy conservation initiatives through partnership with the client’s energy management function.
