Our client is looking for an Associate General Counsel to provide leadership in a wide range of legal services and oversee a team of approximately 35 employees. Reporting to the Head of Law and Policy and General Counsel, the successful candidate will offer senior level business law, statutory interpretation, and governance legal advice to senior management across the operating divisions. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and overseeing written hearings into prohibited actions related to workers exercising occupational health and safety rights. The Associate General Counsel will play a key role in maintaining public confidence in the organization's governance and providing responsive legal services aligned with organizational priorities.In addition to providing legal advice and overseeing compliance, the Associate General Counsel will act as a delegate for the General Counsel in their absence. The successful candidate will help ensure that the organization continues to deliver solutions-focused legal services that meet organizational goals.
