Description

the client is seeking an accomplished and enthusiastic leader for the Associate Director of Population Health and Cancer Control role. The Associate Director will provide strategic vision and leadership for population health and cancer control initiatives, with the aim of reducing the cancer burden and addressing cancer disparities. This position includes a joint leadership appointment within the client’s cancer center and research institute and a senior faculty role in population health.

The Associate Director will develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for population health and cancer control research, with pursuit of a National Cancer Institute designation as a key goal. Responsibilities include leading and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team focused on cancer disparities, prevention, screening, early detection, survivorship, and access to quality care; securing extramural funding to support research initiatives; mentoring junior faculty and strengthening a collaborative research environment; and recruiting additional faculty aligned with building a cohesive team of cancer population health researchers.

The role also provides strategic direction and oversight to advance the cancer center and research institute’s population health and cancer control activities in support of NCI designation, and represents the organization in regional, national, and international collaborations. Qualifications include a doctoral degree in population health, public health, epidemiology, cancer biology, or a closely related field (with a PhD preferred), demonstrated expertise in population health and cancer control research, a strong record securing extramural funding from federal or similarly prestigious agencies, and at least three years of administrative experience leading multi-disciplinary research teams, along with excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills and a commitment to reducing cancer disparities and improving outcomes for underserved populations.
