Description

The client is seeking an Associate Director of Democracy to join their team and help lead initiatives in the areas of money in politics and voting rights. This individual will work closely with the Director of Democracy and other team members to provide research, policy analysis, and strategic leadership focused on increasing democratic participation among Black and brown communities. Responsibilities include developing content, leading projects, team leadership, and staff supervision. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to building power with marginalized communities.

As a national public policy organization, the client aims to serve as a bridge between federal and state strategies, utilizing their expertise in policy, research, and narrative to support grassroots partners in advancing campaigns for a more just and inclusive democracy and economy. The Associate Director will play a key role in shaping the organization's next chapter by transforming strategies and structures to better empower Black and brown communities. This individual will represent the Democracy team in various internal and external meetings, provide leadership and direction to team members, and cultivate strong partnerships with movement organizations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the creation and execution of research reports, policy briefs, and advocacy materials related to democracy issues. They will also oversee team management, including providing clear goals and direction, supervising staff, and fostering team cohesion. Additionally, the Associate Director will work closely with external partners to strengthen collaborative efforts in advancing the client's mission of building a more equitable and participatory democracy.
