The client is seeking an Associate Director, Human Resources based in New York City to lead day-to-day HR operations within a lean, high-performing HR team. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will support approximately 250 employees in the US and collaborate closely with the International HR team, balancing operational execution with regular engagement of employees and executive leadership on talent strategy, compensation, and employee relations.
The Associate Director, Human Resources will run team operations and manage complex employee relations matters as a trusted, objective resource. The role will partner with the CHRO on compensation planning, including maintaining and updating internal compensation banding, supporting annual cycles, responding to pay transparency inquiries, and developing recommendations for compensation decisions. It will also participate in talent review, succession planning, and workforce strategy discussions, and may support or lead sensitive conversations with senior leaders, including members of the Executive Committee, using diplomacy and sound judgment.
Key responsibilities include overseeing recruiting, onboarding, HR reporting, and ensuring data integrity across largely manual and legacy systems, as well as leading the HR team during high-volume or time-sensitive periods with regular stand-up prioritization and coordination. The role will manage internal communications and change initiatives in partnership with the CHRO and communications leadership, and contribute to HRIS and process improvement efforts as the client modernizes systems and builds AI capabilities. The position is exempt and is expected to be responsive when needed, without a strict 9-to-5 approach; qualifications include experience working with and presenting to senior leadership, broad HR generalist expertise, and people management experience.
