Description

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Capital Infrastructure Projects to support a diverse portfolio of investor-owned and public utility clients across Arizona and the Southwest. Working closely with an account director, you will lead teams responsible for delivering major capital infrastructure and strategic utility projects, including power generation, transmission, distribution, grid modernization, infrastructure expansion, and sustainability and electrification initiatives. This role is best suited to a driven project delivery leader with strong business acumen and deep knowledge of power utility operations, with a proven record managing complex capital programs.

As a key member of the Commercial Energy Providers team, you will manage teams delivering consulting and project services such as capital project and program delivery, strategic advisory services, engineering studies, financial and contract management, project controls and performance reporting, regulatory compliance and monitoring, grants management when required, technology transformation, data analytics, risk management, and project-related grid modernization efforts. You will work directly with utility clients and project stakeholders to assess performance, manage risks and issues, communicate project status, and proactively manage expectations. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring delivery teams across multiple projects and workstreams, managing milestones and performance, supporting planning and governance, maintaining project documentation and executive communications, and overseeing contracts, budgets, financial performance, and change control.

You will also establish and report on key performance indicators, analyze project and program data to identify trends and opportunities, address challenges and delivery shortfalls with practical solutions, and coordinate across stakeholders including engineering teams, contractors, and consultants. You will track timelines, dependencies, deliverables, and action items while supporting the development and implementation of project management methodologies, tools, and governance processes, and coaching teams to adopt best practices. Required qualifications include United States citizenship or United States permanent residency, a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, and at least seven years of post-graduation project management experience specifically within the power utility sector, along with demonstrated experience managing physical capital infrastructure or large engineering projects in an electric or gas utility environment and knowledge of the capital project and project management lifecycle beyond IT project management.
