The client seeks a strategic leader to serve as its next Assistant Vice President, Total Rewards (AVP, Total Rewards). This role supports a research-focused academic institution by helping shape and implement a thoughtful, robust compensation philosophy and benefits architecture. The AVP will advance total rewards strategy within a Human Resources team committed to the organization’s mission and values, bringing creativity, expertise, and a collaborative approach to modernizing systems and enhancing employee experience.

Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the AVP will oversee the strategic direction and operational execution of compensation and benefits. Success requires a deep understanding of total rewards strategy, with a strong commitment to equity and transparency, and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics. The AVP will provide counsel on compensation and benefits matters, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders, foster cross-functional collaboration, and lead a team of professionals delivering high-impact programs across the institution.

Key opportunities include providing strategic leadership of total rewards programs, fostering a cohesive environment across the organization’s schools and units, building and developing a strong total rewards team, and driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
