Description

The client is seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Business and Auxiliary Enterprises. This senior role serves as the chief enterprise executive for a multi-business, revenue-generating portfolio that supports the day-to-day experience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, fans, and guests. The AVP will be responsible for advancing enterprise strategy by expanding self-generated revenue, developing public-private and philanthropic partnerships, leveraging distinctive brand and real estate assets, modernizing the service platform, and reinvesting proceeds into priority initiatives that enhance the overall institutional experience.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing a multi-year enterprise strategy with measurable customer-experience outcomes and diversified revenue streams. The AVP will identify, launch, and scale new revenue concepts such as partnerships, licensing and sponsorship opportunities, event-driven commerce, and brand extensions that expand the auxiliary footprint across campus, online, and affiliated events and venues. The role also includes positioning auxiliary operations as a commercial expression of the institution’s brand, converting brand equity into durable revenue through merchandising, exclusive partnerships, and premium experiences, and maintaining competitive benchmarks using external frameworks and industry practices while ensuring the portfolio remains student-centered and future-ready.

The AVP will lead digital transformation across auxiliary operations, including improvements to ordering, payments, self-service capabilities, retail channels, and automation where it improves margin and service. The position requires building analytics and customer-intelligence capabilities to track performance in real time, segment customer behavior, test pricing, forecast demand, and address underperforming assets proactively. In addition, the AVP will structure, negotiate, and manage public-private partnership agreements for auxiliary facilities and commercial real estate, oversee operating and capital budgets for auxiliary units to support self-sustainability and positive margins, and direct asset management and capital reinvestment for facilities, equipment, technology, and infrastructure upgrades, while integrating sustainability, wellness, and accessibility considerations into concept design, sourcing, and vendor selection.
