The client invites applications for the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Clinical Programs Advancement. In this role, the AVC provides strategic leadership for fundraising across clinical departments and the client’s grateful patient programs, building relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission in education, research, and healthcare. The position is expected to help shape overall strategy for the Clinical Programs Advancement team in collaboration with senior advancement and health sciences leadership.
The AVC will lead and manage a high-performing team of frontline fundraisers and staff, integrating philanthropy into the clinical care continuum. Key responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, partnering closely with clinical and academic leadership such as department chairs, division chiefs, center and institute directors, faculty, physicians, and senior leadership, and implementing or expanding grateful patient programs. The role also includes developing performance metrics to drive growth, recommending organizational structures to maximize coverage of priority areas, and guiding program execution to engage grateful patient prospects and families.
The AVC is responsible for frontline major and principal gift fundraising, including managing a portfolio of prospects within assigned clinical areas and cultivating new prospects while meeting performance expectations. The role also emphasizes physician engagement, including communicating and advancing fundraising priorities with hospital and department leadership, increasing physician participation, and leading staff efforts to grow participation among physicians and donors and to increase total dollars raised. The ideal candidate will be a proven fundraiser with experience closing seven-figure gifts from grateful patients and demonstrated success engaging physicians, along with the ability to lead, supervise, and motivate teams in a collaborative environment.
