The client is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join their team in Uptown Charlotte, NC. This role will involve serving as a key legal advisor to the General Counsel, handling contract negotiations, drafting, and review to minimize risk while supporting business goals. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of legal experience with a background in contract law, data protection, intellectual property, talent acquisition, marketing law, or supply chain agreements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The client is a PE-backed, direct-to-consumer company with a portfolio of brands sold in major retailers across the US and internationally. They offer a highly visible role with the autonomy to make a tangible impact and exposure to executive leadership. The Assistant General Counsel will provide expert counsel on regulatory and compliance matters, including privacy laws, employment contracts, and advertising standards. They will also partner with internal teams to ensure operational initiatives meet legal and regulatory requirements and provide day-to-day legal support on routine contract matters.
This role is hybrid, with in-office work 3x a week and remote work 2x a week. The client is looking for a candidate with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in any U.S. state (North Carolina admission not required). The ideal candidate will be skilled in approaching negotiations with flexibility and innovation to develop solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
