the client is seeking an experienced Account Director to accelerate growth across strategic telecommunications and digital infrastructure customers. This role represents advanced optical networking and connectivity solutions while partnering with major service provider and data center organizations in North America. The ideal candidate is a consultative sales professional who will develop new business, build executive relationships, and lead the delivery of complex infrastructure solutions that create measurable customer value.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing territory strategies, identifying, qualifying, and closing new opportunities, and strengthening relationships with strategic accounts. The Account Director will lead consultative sales engagements by understanding customer network challenges and recommending tailored infrastructure solutions, partnering with sales engineering, product management, and leadership to develop technical and commercial proposals. The role also includes maintaining accurate sales forecasts and pipeline activity, conducting customer meetings and executive presentations (including virtual discussions and on-site visits) to build trusted advisor relationships, and monitoring market trends and competitive activity to uncover growth opportunities.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of quota-carrying sales experience, preferably in WDM, optical transport, or networking infrastructure. The candidate should have demonstrated experience developing new business with communication service providers, cloud providers, or data center organizations, and possess strong knowledge of DWDM, optical transport, IP networking, MPLS, SDN, and modern data center architectures. Experience applying consultative sales methodologies to complex carrier or enterprise networking opportunities, knowledge of competitive technologies and telecommunications market trends, proficiency using Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office, excellent presentation and negotiation skills, the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally, and a results-driven mindset with strong business development and account planning capabilities are also expected. Travel is required to support customer engagements and industry events.
