Robyn Hannigan has senior leadership experience across the higher education, research, and nonprofit sectors, including service as a college president, provost, founding dean, and federal program officer. A collaborative and analytically grounded leader, Robyn has worked closely with trustees, presidents, provosts, faculty leaders, and general counsel to support sound decision-making, institutional resilience, and long-term strategy in complex organizational environments. Deeply committed to the success of higher education, Robyn has spent her career helping institutions align leadership, culture, and strategy to support academic excellence, student success, and public impact. Her leadership experience spans public and private institutions, unionized and non-unionized environments, and research-intensive and teaching-focused missions. Across her roles as President of Ursinus College, Provost at Clarkson University, and Founding Dean of the School for the Environment at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Robyn led large, diverse academic enterprises and worked closely with trustees, executive teams, faculty leaders, and external partners during periods of growth, transition, and change. Her background as a former National Science Foundation program officer further informs her systems-level perspective, evaluative judgment, and understanding of institutional capacity and leadership readiness. Robyn has served in national advisory and governance roles, including serving on a National Academies committee and Board, participating in the U.S. Department of State’s Our Ocean, One Future initiative, and leading university consortia, nonprofit, and public media boards. Known for sound judgment, discretion, and a systems-level perspective, she brings practical insight to senior leadership searches and advisory work, particularly in contexts requiring trust, clarity, and alignment between mission and leadership capacity. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester and serves on several nonprofit, for-profit, and higher education boards. Robyn is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Geological Society of America.
